Iron Blog Subjects: Affirmative Action

Going through the Iron Blog topic list:

Affirmative action, in theory, is just widening out the pool of applicants to give non-traditional, qualified applicants a break. Theory's theory and reality is often something else. In reality, disparate impact theory has rendered such weak forms of preference next to useless in shielding business and academia from expensive discrimination litigation so affirmative action turns into discrimination of a different type. If you don't get your end results to closely match the relevant (according to the prosecution) population pool, you're going to end up before a judge and jury.

That's no way to promote racial harmony and peace. Affirmative action, in its most common practical manifestation, is simply unjust, immoral, and unamerican.
